Page 1. This page is a one of a kind as my friend, Christina Strain, colored it as a favor to me. All other pages were colored by Gloria Caeli and Fahriza Kamaputra (Stellar Labs). Art By Emily Hu. Lettering By Troy Peteri. I loved it as Emily captured the tone of the script immediately and set up an interesting use of space. It was a test of my own skills as a writer because Emi didn’t leave enough room for dialogue in one of the panels, but I loved what she did so much I said “screw it” and changed it. I think it all worked out for the best.

Page 6. This is my favorite page. It is where we are first introduced to Duncan the ghost and Emi nailed it. I had no changes on this page. And I loved the texturing Gloria and Fahriza did on the walls. Duncan has a long history with this family which I explored a little in the first short story, THE DEVIL WITHIN. I would love to do a special issue based on him. There are also two more companion stories to the BMS universe: THE SECRET and STEAMPUNK RAT.

Page 14. This is where Caitlin first meets Granville Woods. I loved setting up the social dynamics between them and how they are both outsiders in this world. Granville Woods (scientist and engineer) was a real person and lived in the same time period as Bell, Edison and Tesla. In fact, he sued Edison for stealing his patents and won. Quite an achievement for an African-American man in that time period. It also shows what a jerk Edison was.
