RUE follows a mysterious figure who is targeting and killing everyone involved with the death and destruction of a town called Rue years before. As law and outlaw alike begin to fall, the remaining men responsible for the destruction of the town must put the clues together in an attempt to halt their own demise.
PAGE ONE: This is the beginning of the end of RUE, a small town attacked by bandits and burned to the ground by a group of bandits when they rob the bank using conspicuous means — DYNAMITE! Notice the red hue over the page? Readers will see this any time we are viewing something “before” the present.
PAGE TWO: Here we see Sheriff try unsuccessfully to stop the bandits. The narrator tells us that they are the sole survivor of the massacre after we see a bandit cut off Sheriff Kang’s tail. The town of Rue burns behind them.
PAGE THREE: Cut to the present (note the change in color). Kang, the tail-less sheriff who tried to stop the bandits is hanging from a tree. Confused, the “sole-survivor” of the attack on Rue seems bent on killing him. Why? Well, we learn that on page four…
