3-Page Previews: Something Animal

Fanboy Comics had this to say about their book, Something Animal:

Something Animal page 09

Something Animal page 09

In one of our favorite pages in the book, the reader sees Jack and his sister Lily walking down an alley, their lives about to change forever. The ominous shadow at the top of the page signals the approaching predator, like a shark’s fin cutting through the water.

Here, Jack becomes aware of the figure following them. Before Jack can determine whether the stranger is a friend or foe, the figure attacks.

The confusion of the attack was an important element for us. On this page, we experience Jack’s P.O.V. as his head hits the pavement. He comes out of a daze to discover the attacker looming over his sister. Jack knows that something horrible is about to happen, even if he can’t decipher the attacker’s motives.

After witnessing his sister’s brutal murder, Jack struggles to cope with the disturbing, psychological aftermath. Tormented by images of the attack, Jack is forced to confront the harsh reality that either his sanity is quickly crumbling or that he is turning into something else… something dark… something animal…
