Joseph Kubert (September 18, 1926 – August 12, 2012)

There’s not a lot that I can say about the passing of Joe Kubert. The man was an incredible artist and although I was not directly inspired by him, I can’t help but feel his distant hand reaching out and guiding all of us in the comic book industry.  Joe brought us a school and amazing characters including one of my favorites, Hawkman.  Aside from never having met the man, my one regret in regards to him was not reviewing his book Jew Gangster which I recently read and was certainly impressed by.  I wish he’d had more time to create work as interesting and beautiful as that book.  I look forward to discovering his other work that I have yet to read and I can only hope that I will learn something more about Joe Kubert through his work.
