Lilyhammer is streaming across my internet through my Roku and Netflix because there’s nothing but crud on regular TV tonight. But that’s all good cause even though it’s a “reader” (has periodic subtitles), it’s a good show and keeps me entertained while I write about today’s indie comics purchases.
The first book is B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth vol. 3: Russia. Hellboy was of course a redefining moment in comics but specifically for indie comics. It showed that arty looking, non-traditional comics that were not about capes could succeed. But Mignola did not stop there. He went on to create one of the most interesting worlds of potential around the character of Hellboy and I’m glad that he’s decided to keep the world doing.
The next book on the list is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classics, Vol. 1. I was a peripheral fan of the original series back in the day, when I was a kid and before the movie but I was too young and dumb to completely comprehend what it was going to become – most of us were. Even though my brother that was 8 years younger than me completely understood. Age does not always mean insight. Anyway, so it basically means that I have not read all of the TMNT stuff that I should/could have. And now, I’ve got some work to do.
The last book on my stack is Betrayal of the Planet of the Apes. It’s probably my biggest adventure in today’s stack and certainly has more of a chance that it could fail than the other books but I was a Planet of the Apes fan growing up - I had the board game – and I feel the need to
walk lumber with my cousins once again.
Anyway, Little Steven has finished entertaining me for the night so I’m headed to bed soon – I have some books to read.
Never Enough Said.
